All recipes appearing in Crumbs on the Table are categorised as ‘Savoury’ or ‘Sweet’. Both sweet and savoury together are cross-referenced alphabetically in the full index below, by main ingredient (e.g., ‘Bong’s chicken’ will be found under ‘chicken’). Recipes are also searchable through the separate ‘Ingredients’ index . All recipes from my blog postings will be organised into these categories and listed in these indices. You will also find ‘Categories’ and ‘Tags’ at the end of every posting, for other descriptions such as ‘Cake Recipes’, ‘Easy Recipes’, or ‘Vegetarian Recipes’, among others, which you can click on for a list of all recipes that meet those descriptions, with thumbnail photos and a brief description of each.
These recipes are tested at least three times because I want you to be able to rely on them. Most are old favourites I’ve cooked from for years, in different countries.
Ingredients are listed in UK measurements first, and US measurements in parentheses. For best results, choose one and follow that rather than mixing measurements from both.
I aim to be clear with instructions and what to look for as you cook. Where prior knowledge of basic techniques is required, I sometimes refer readers to helpful authorities for more detail.
I always attribute recipes I have borrowed or adapted. Sometimes I refer to how different cooks approach a similar dish — e.g., how to make gnocchi from scratch, or lemon curd, or how to roast a chicken. I find such comparisons helpful in deciding which recipe to choose, and hope you will too.
I also hope you will make some of these recipes your own, and share your experiences of making them.
